Notes

"ARCHITECTURAL PATTERNS COVER a wide range of possibilities. They usually impart a sense of three-dimensional depth to an architectural motif, whether it is structural, such as the Gothic tracery in number 2, or ornamental, like the bas-relief escutcheon in number 4. Number 3 lacks this three-dimensional quality and instead gives the impression of an architect's rendering of an ornate ceiling decoration fit for a Renaissance palace."
