"BELLE EPOQUE DESIGNS epitomize high Victorian style, evoking the stuffy parlors of the 1890s - every surface covered with pattern, none of it matching. Fabrics were heavy and colors cloying - fleshy salmon pinks, acid greens, poisonous blues. These were the interiors that were swept away by the bare walls of Modernist architecture."
