From DiscoverWorks.org
Textile Design Portal
This portal features thousands of individual designs, organized by the well known classification system provided by the Design Library. Unlike museums and most research institutions, which use chronology as the primary filing criterion, the Design Library uses a design-based system created by Susan Meller, co-author of the award-wining book Textile Designs: 200 Years of European and American Patterns. The book contains 300 categories for classification and cataloging, specifically organized to meet the practical demands of the professional.
Presently, DiscoverWorks, with permission from the Design Library, uses a subset of their categories. For instance, if you’re interested in textiles using an airbrush technique, click the ‘airbrush’ link under the category of FLORAL below or type ‘airbrush’ into the search box in the left-hand menu.
For individuals or organizations uploading their own designs, we encourage you to ‘tag’ your works using the Design Library Classification System.
