About DiscoverWorks.org
DiscoverWorks.org site is a wiki that allows you to create and edit content and metadata about that content. We welcome you to:
- Create other language versions of the site
- Post new information
- Update existing content
- Find the works that interest you (e.g., Dust Bowl photographs, Alexandre Dumas, etc.) and enrich the content pages with rights ownership information, descriptive information, places where you've found the work, and the context in which you would like to use it.
What is DiscoverWorks?
DiscoverWorks.org is a place you can go to find and post information about the copyright status and metadata resources for all kinds of content, from books and photos to music, videos and much more. Through this community, we can all help each other minimize copyright confusion and find the information we need to use and share content with confidence.
What DiscoverWorks is not:
DiscoverWorks.org is not a content repository or licensing agency, and does not convey rights, provide transactional services for rights, or represent individual copyright holders in any capacity. DiscoverWorks.org will not act as a judge or arbitrator over any disputes.
About the Icons and Graphical Elements Used in DiscoverWorks
DiscoverWorks.org uses the Silk Icon set and flag icons from famfamfam.com, the website of Mark James, a web developer and student in Birmingham, UK. He has kindly licensed several beautiful and useful icon sets under a [ http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5/Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License].
The flag icon filenames follow the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country codes with the following file naming convention:
Flag_[country code].png
Here's an example with the Canadian flag:
When you type [[Image:Flag_ca.png]] you will see
on the rendered page.
Our Use of Images from Wikimedia Commons
DiscoverWorks.org also uses images and symbolic elements from Wikimedia Commons. These images should all be tagged with the Wikimedia Commons attribution box:
