This is a beta site that addresses the challenges of orphan works and missing information about copyrighted material. DiscoverWorks was developed by Copyright Clearance Center, a private not-for-profit organization that licenses rights worldwide. CCC has collaborated with many content sources, such as Design Library, the Library of Congress, Project Gutenberg, and others to post information on this site about millions of works.

Anyone—researchers, content creators, librarians, museum professionals, publishers, archivists, government officials, etc., can use DiscoverWorks to:

• Check the copyright status of content
• Assert ownership of rights to particular works
• Freely exchange information on all kinds of copyrighted material
• Link to known copyright holders

While CCC will moderate DiscoverWorks.org in its infancy, we invite you to join this global community and take part in developing and moderating the site. As more participants begin moderating the site on their own, we will reduce our role.

Check back often. We and other DiscoverWorks users are adding new content information all the time.
